Customs tariff codes

Search the EU customs tariff (TARIC) codes used in Finland by code or description.

Data: Finnish Customs' Fintaric, version 2026.214 (05/10/2026). Updated nightly.

What is a customs tariff code?

A customs tariff code (commodity code, tariff heading) says which class goods belong to in customs clearance. It decides the duties, taxes, restrictions and statistics that apply, and every import and export declaration needs one. The same nomenclature is used across the EU.

How is a code built?

The code narrows down from left to right. Take 0203 19 55 10:

  • 02 – chapter (meat and edible meat offal)
  • 0203 – heading (meat of swine, fresh, chilled or frozen)
  • 0203 19 – HS subheading, the worldwide Harmonized System
  • 0203 19 55 – CN code, the EU's Combined Nomenclature (exports and statistics)
  • 0203 19 55 10 – TARIC code, the finest level, used in EU import declarations

The start of a code is enough: 0203 lists the heading and everything under it. A word search looks through the descriptions in Finnish, Swedish and English, and every hit is shown with its path from the chapter down.

Where does the data come from?

The data is from Finnish Customs' Fintaric tariff service, which holds the EU TARIC nomenclature with Finland's national additions. Kontakto fetches the changes Customs publishes every night, so the codes are current. Duty rates, taxes and import restrictions per code are in the Fintaric service.

Please note

The search is an aid to classifying goods, not a ruling. Finnish Customs gives binding classifications: for an unclear case you can apply for Binding Tariff Information (BTI).
